KUTA & LEGIAN

Many visitors start their holiday in Kuta which only began to develop as a resort area in the late 60's. Kuta beach, famous for good surf, features a long strip of golden sand beach lined with shady trees. Behind the beach, a network of narrow roads and alleys run back to a hodgepodge of large and small hotels, restaurants, bars, food stalls and shops. At first the Kuta area was a completely separate development but then it continued north towards Legian and back again making it impossible to see where one ends and the other begins.
Today Kuta and Legian are just names for different sections of one long, continuous beach.
